Critiques

Do you need a critique of a manuscript?

Critique and editorial feedback are essential parts of writing. I love helping other writers create their best work. I offer a variety of services for writers seeking traditional publishing as well as self-publishing. Rates are based on word count and the kind of feedback you’d like to receive. Contact me to discuss your project!

Critique  – I read through your manuscript and provide feedback on plot, voice, characters, conflict, setting, word count, formatting and art notes, and an overall assessment of the manuscript. This also includes proofreading and copy editing for consistency. I provide feedback in a letter  and make comments on the manuscript. This is some serious feedback!

Proofreading – correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, and any other errors.

Copy Editing – correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, and any other errors. I also check for consistency mistakes (for example, a character wears a red shirt in one line and then is in a blue shirt in another line.) You will have the option to accept or decline these changes. A copyedit does not include comments on the story overall.

Personal Consultation – There’s a lot to learn about the children’s publishing industry.

  • Is this publisher a scam?
  • How do I get an agent?
  • What classes should I take?
  • Is my story ready to submit?
  • What’s Work for Hire?

I offer Zoom meetings or phone calls to discuss any and all of your questions about navigating the children’s publishing industry. A one hour call is $75.00 and is tailored to focus on all of your specific questions.

“Elizabeth went above and beyond to provide great feedback and guidance. Working with her was money well spent.”

“Elizabeth was a huge help in getting my book off the ground. I was a new author and didn’t really know what I was doing. Elizabeth gave me so much wonderful advice to get me started. She also edited my book. She was so easy to work with and made me comfortable enough to share my first draft with her. She was kind with her edits and was all around a joy to work with.”
